POTATOES & POLES WORKSHOP

 

For Dextrin Resist (bring to class)

plastic containers ( 1 quart or 1  pint plus a couple smaller, e.g. yogurt-sized; not reusable for food)

plastic spoons (a couple)

plastic putty knife (1 1/2” preferred, hardware store)

spreaders or stucco combs (optional, from hardware or paint supply store)

foam brushes (1” to 1 1/2”, several)

T pins or straight pins

xacto knife

contact paper, 1/2 - 1 yd

 

For Pole Wrapping (bring to class)

pvc pipe, non-perforated, 2” - 3” diameter, cut in 24” - 30” lengths (bring 2-3)

string: varied weights (e.g. nylon thread, button & carpet thread, kite string, postal twine, jute, etc.)

masking tape,  no wider than 1/2”

needle & thread (poly cotton okay or button & carpet )

small spray bottle

plastic bucket (from hardware/paint store, good for carrying stuff to class, any size)

 

General Supplies (bring to class)

fabric: 3 - 4 yds 100% white, bleached or unbleached,  cotton, untreated, pre washed & pressed (no stain resists, etc.)

scissors (all purpose, not good sewing scissors)

dust mask

rubber gloves (household a la Playtex, surgical weight optional)

old towel

a couple of plastic bags (e.g.. grocery, trash, etc.)

wear old clothes

f the venue does not have print tables available, we’ll make light-weight versions for you to use later at home for various textile media.

1.I'll bring the foundation materials to class: foam insulation , cardboard, heavy gauge plastic and duct tape.

 

2.You bring to class:

-layers of quilt batting, felt, flannel, or flannel, 3-4 pieces, approx. 36” x 30” each or thick carpet padding

-cotton muslin fabric for top covering, one or two pieces approx. 36” x 30”
