Traditional Slow Stitch (5 Day)
Student Supply List
Fabric for Shibori
3 yds of washed, untreated, white 100% cotton or other cellulose fabric. PFD “prepared for dyeing” fabric is not required but guarantees best results.
If you wish to experiment further, bring small amounts of:
- undyed plant based cloth (eg. linen, hemp) or silk
- cottons dyed in various colors, not too dark so indigo will show
Additional Fabric for Boro Patching (we’ll use what we dye in class, so this is optional but fun)
- a variety of fibers and weights, solids and patterns, - small pieces and scraps ok for patching
- some medium sized pieces (12 inch square or larger) for backing
-fabrics should be suitable for hand sewing, since we’ll be needling through layers
Sewing Supplies
