Light of Liberty

Light of Liberty was the Massachusett's
winner in the first Great American Quilt Festival held in New York, New
York in 1986 in conjunction with the Museum of American Folk Art. This
exciting event was made even more amazing for me since Jonathan Holstein
chose my quilt as his judge's choice. Bedloe's Island, where Ms. Liberty's
lights shine, provided pattern inspiration, both in the shape of the fortifications
and the paving stones.
Hand dyed cottons, machine pieced and
hand quilted
