| Fabric: recommended PFD fabric (“prepared for dyeing”). 1. cut two 4 1/2” (1/8 yard) strips across width of fabric. a small amount of linen or silk for experimenting (optional) Thread: Button & Carpet, Craft or Upholstery Thread (stronger than regular sewing thread) A 12 inch ruler A bucket for rinsing Any shibori or tie dye samples you may have Note: n Because of sink limitations and class size, we’ll be using small diameter pipes. This means pole dyed fabric will be in fairly narrow strips, but will allow us to experiment with more samples. If I’m driving to the workshop, I will provide the pipes. For long distance workshops, students should bring two pvc pipes, 1 1/2” in diameter and 24” long. Outside surface must be smooth and not perforated as well as free of deep scratches. Materials fee is $10 and includes a silk scarf blank to dye. If you have any questions, please contact instructor at 617-868-4055 or info@carolannegrotrian.com. |
