INTRODUCTION TO INDIGO WORKSHOP:
SUPPLY LIST

 

The following are the usual supplies for my shibori workshop, which covers the range of basic techniques. Feel free to brng some or all to class, so you can experiment.

3 yds or more of washed, untreated, 100% cotton, linen or silk.

Thread: Button & Carpet Thread (stronger than regular sewing thread)
Waxed dental floss, any flavor

Sewing needles, thimble if you use one
Embroidery-sized scissors (not your best) or thread snips
Seam ripper (optional)

Clothes pins
A pencil
A couple of plastic bags
A small spray bottle

A couple of wine corks or pink pearl erasers
A few rubber bands (especially small ones, eg. for braces)
A few pebbles, beans or marbles

A large trash bag
An old towel
A plastic bag (just in case there’s wet fabric to take home)
Rubber Gloves (a la Playtex)
Surgical weight rubber gloves
Wear old clothes

I’ll supply the following if the workshop is within driving distance of Cambridge; otherwise it’s optional for students to bring: PVC pipe, 24’ long, 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter (if leftover from plumbing project, outside surface needs to be smooth).

NOTE: There is an $8.00 materials fee.
