Carol Anne Grotrian combines West and East, American quilting and Japanese shibori dyeing, to create landscapes.  They become "breathing spaces", conscious of American landscape painting and Asian traditions of landscape as meditation. Indigo quilts focus less on a sense of place and more on shibori itself, concentrating on the essense of nature.
